Job Opening Position Number: 09-21 Full-Time Position : Racial Disparity Job Counselor Location: Detroit Lakes Workforce Center Salary: Entry Level Grade 9 Filing Deadline: March 8, 2010 Summary: Responsible for contacting area businesses to develop work training contracts on behalf of American Indian MFIP participants and to assist those participants in successfully obtaining and retaining employment. Qualifications: Prefer Bachelor's degree in social services, business, marketing or related discipline, OR commensurate combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to work with American Indian population. Preference will be given to minority applicant. Duties: 1. Assists customers to develop and maintain an Employment Plan, the primary objective of which is employment and/or training. 2. Directs customer activities through services intended to achieve the Employment Plan objectives. 3. Monitors customer progress as a mentor and collaborate with case management staff. 4. Contacts minority area employers to exchange information about program services available through RMCEP supported work program and to solicit partnering activities. 5. Prepares clients and work site supervisors for work training experience. 6. Conducts follow-up with client and work site supervisors to monitor client adjustment and adequacy of training site. 7. Assists clients and employers with work site accommodations. 8. Serve on the Racial Disparity Action Team (RDAT) at Becker County. 9. Other duties may be assigned.
